I’ve worked for McDonald’s for over three years now. I started as a fifteen-year-old cashier and worked my way up to management while still in high school. I remember spending time in class thinking of ways to inspire the crew to work efficiently on my next shift or help a crew person become a team leader. I always had a certain awe for the company and the ideas behind its success but after working with a difficult owner and a burned-out store manager I have become increasingly dissatisfied with my job. I am quite simply tired of being ‘the only one who works around here’ (or so it seems).
After reading the excerpt from your book I remembered why I work so hard to run a good store, it’s not to please the owner or the store manager, but to please the customers and keep them coming back.Your book reminded me why ‘I even bothered in the first place.’
